Cost: $A18.50 for years 3—6, $A25.50 for years 7—10
The module is designed for students in years 3–10 and is usually conducted over 3 to 4 consecutive weeks between March and early June (but the timing of 3 to 4 weeks is up to your school). In 2020, this period has been extended, with registrations closing on June 26 and results due back to AMT at the start of term 4 – Monday 12 October. This allows for flexibility in your schedule to cater for all students.
All study materials will be provided and you’ll be given a range of support materials including module handbook, sample letter to parents, posters, student problems, teacher guide, extension problems, marking schemes, stats reports, and more.
There are separate problem sets for primary students in years 3–4 and those in years 5–7. Primary students can attempt four problems individually or in groups of up to 3 students registered for the module.
There are different problem sets for secondary students in years 7–8 and those in years 9–10. Secondary students can attempt six problems
individually or with another student also registered for the module.
Each problem has several parts and may take some time to solve. Students must individually write up their own solutions for each problem.
Allow one class period (or equivalent time) per week to support students and monitor their progress. Students may need at least another hour or two study time per week. Teachers can mark the solutions (about 20 minutes per paper) or can have marking done through AMT. Results are due back to the Australian Maths Trust at the start of term 4 – Monday 12 October. On completion, all students will receive a certificate based on their performance.
Challenge entry fees for 2020 are $18.50 per primary student (years 3—6) and $25.50 per secondary student (years 7—10). Price inclusive of GST for Australian schools.
